Hamilton Rentals – One year on

Hamilton Rentals succeeded in a management buyout last year. One year on, we are delighted to say that we have met all our bank covenants and are in better shape than ever.



As part of the MBO, We vacated our spacious but antiquated (some might say iconic, some dilapidated) old home of nearly 30 years just outside London near Wembley Stadium and moved into equally spacious but much more congenial premises in what is known as the UK’s Silicon Valley in Bracknell, Berkshire.



Prior to the MBO, Hamilton Rentals was a subsidiary of a large IT services company and sister company to a value added reseller in the Group.



We are now totally independent which has brought benefits in that there is no conflict of interest (real or perceived) with the VAR channel so it has widened our customer base – we have agreements with the channel whereby they rent from us, add a margin and rent to their end user and other agreements whereby we rent direct to their end user and pay a finder’s fee.



There is every reason why we can work with IT-RA members on the same basis if you have end users more easily serviced from a European base.



We have extensive rental programs we run with the vendors.



Our core business – short term rental – is booming. This has a beneficial knock on effect on our disposal business and therefore our purchases for the fleet which is right up to date.



We also have a sensible stock of ‘legacy’ products to meet specialist requirements.



Such is the level of confidence in our service to our customers, we have extended our business - at the request of some very large corporate clients - to include ‘End of Life Asset Management’ whereby we help our customers manage the disposal of redundant equipment under current environmental legislation, erasing any data to US Department of Defense/UK Ministry of Defense standards.



Our range of products for rental is mainly from HP, Sun and IBM and we have just become a Cisco Certified Partner. We supply anything from a notebook to an enterprise server including desktops, blades and printers as well as large LCD and plasma screens, all to the tune of about $35m of stock.



We have distribution facilities that we use to provide rental regularly into the rest of Europe – and beyond

The Value of the International Technology Rental Association

I am constantly quizzed by prospective and current members about the value of the association. The answer is quite simple; “What do you want the ITRA to be because it is completely up to You”.


The ITRA was put together as a facilitator so that you would have the opportunity to meet face to face or contact at any time a group of professionals who are faced with the same challenges and victories as you are. With the contacts and friendships you develop your organization will be able to offer reliable products and services in other cities, across the country and literally around the world.



Some members want the exchange of ideas, some the comfort of dealing with people you have met and others just want to get away once a year to talk about the future. All of these are valid reasons to join and belong.



You may not want to dive into planning and organizational aspects of the ITRA however; your attendance at the Conference, response to our surveys and willingness to work on a win/win basis with your fellow members will prove that the Value you have received greatly exceeds the price that you paid.



Personally, I serve on the board so that I can leave the association in a stronger better place than the excellent plateau that I found it at and that is why I need all of you to achieve that goal.

Off To A Great Start!

Greetings from your friendly Board of Directors!
 

We are off to a fantastic start in our 2009 Membership Drive.  So far we have welcomed Menlo and Dyventive to our ranks.  That's a terrific beginning to what we hope will be a very good year.

 

With the economy being as tough as it is right now, it's very important for us to continue working to find new members.  The greater our numbers, the better it is for all of us.  Each new member brings us the opportunity to expand our footprint and also to fulfill orders locally that we might not otherwise have seen.

 

So once again the board is looking to each of you for help.  We've still got a few names we are working on but we need more.  Our goal is to add 10 new companies this year.  Who do you know that we can contact?  If you are willing to give us the referral, the members of the board will do the tag teaming.  Together we can keep the momentum going.

 

Please send me or any other board member the names and contact information for any possible candidates.  Remember, they can be other forms of technology besides just computers.  It would be great if we could expand our AV members, copier companies, sound companies or even rent a technicial/temp companies.
